Hi, I’m Sam Jenkins.
I’m a culture and community strategist, speaker, facilitator, and the founder of Empowering Communities.
For more than a decade, I’ve worked across parks and recreation, cultural programming, community engagement, inclusive event design, leadership development, and employee experience. I began in hands-on roles, supporting programs and setting up events, before moving into positions where I led staff, developed community initiatives, produced large-scale cultural experiences, and helped organizations create stronger connections with the people they serve.
Throughout that journey, I saw the difference between organizations saying that people matter and creating environments where people actually feel it. I also experienced the impact of burnout and an unhealthy workplace firsthand. Those experiences changed how I thought about leadership, inclusion, and the responsibility organizations have to the people who bring their work to life.
Empowering Communities grew from my desire to close that gap. It became a place where all parts of my experience could come together, including workplace culture, community programs, speaking, training, facilitation, strategy, and creative experience design. While the work takes many forms, the purpose remains the same: helping organizations turn people-first values into cultures, programs, and experiences where people feel seen, valued, and connected.
I’m a builder at heart. I love listening to an idea, recognizing what is missing, and helping turn it into something thoughtful, practical, and meaningful. That is the energy I bring to every room, project, and partnership.
People First, Always.
I begin by listening to the people closest to the experience. Their needs, perspectives, and ideas help shape the work from the start.
